The Elder Scrolls Online Guild had its first wedding on Friday which saw Blu Cry and Emma G tie the not for extra XP. They are also real life husband and wife and very new members only joining last week. It is such a pleasure to have them join us.

Everyone from Eternal Dawn congratulates them and we are looking forward to the happy couple levelling up [with no arguing] and joining some of the other members with the end game content.

You look SPLENDID together.

Not one of you noticed Malbec’s bikini…..

“It was a bright and cold day in February [April] and the clocks were striking 13″ – George Orwell

What better time to gather the ESO Members and jump into our first Trial in Aetherian Archive.

As we zoned in the usual questions were asked “have/need food”, “charge weapons” etc and then we awaited those all important first instructions. This was ED scripting yet another piece of history and this time in ESO.

We had to start the raid by running through flames until we reached the trashy Flame Atronach’s where we burnt them down with a mighty force.

Another wee run but this time dodging the ice where a call of “I don’t know which way to go” came through our headsets as we run round a maze of frosty bookcases. We all waited by the double doors for them to open so we were all greeted collectively by the Ice Atronach’s.

Then onto the Bannermen or “those that carry those long flag things”, we got them down with ease and the trash was cleared to our first Boss the Lightning Storm Atronach.

Surprisingly taken down on the first pull and still no one mentions Malbec’s bikini…

Off to the next area which had these lovely shiny platforms.

This is where we reached our toughest challenge; was it working out the mystery of these bright platforms, was it the encounter we were about to endure. No, something far more complex. It was getting the person not in Discord on a platform; vast cheers were heard when they finally stepped foot on the platform.

Why do we stand on these platforms? Well that my friends you have to find out when you come along but take heed, just like the last boy to be picked at the school playground football team, consider yourself cursed when Malbec goes to your platform side…

After the platforms, whilst Malbec still cried, we reached the second Boss, the Foundation Stone Atronach, which gave us a boss fight with adds called Chainspinners and Nullifiers, but in true ED carnage type style we managed to end them all.

It was at this point of the Raid when it was noticed that some were not paying attention from the start as their health was not very big and dying quite quickly and this created our next most challenging task of the evening…….it was a double whammy; firstly and most generously when giving food remember to split that stack, but the kind request for their food to be returned sparked off probably one of the most common queries in MMO slackery “How do you trade in this game”. So more ED history was created by way of a Trade Strategy being given in a Raid.

After Tradegate we met our third Boss Varlariel, Malbec was still crying from platform haters so to cheer himself up he decided to break into Amy Winehouse Valerie after we killed her, she was a ghostly little thing splitting up into little Varlariel’s.

With Varlariel neutralised it was off to the fourth and last Boss The Mage, what could go wrong before we start the encounter…..well…..stumbling on the worlds most dangerous Library wrong that’s what could happen, risking our very existence to read books but we eventually got to the Boss.

Whilst the raid focused on the boss our Tank had just ONE job, that’s right just one job, Tanks in MMO’s these days must be so boring. Anyway, they had to keep the little tiny weenie whiny axes from flying all over the place.

Who would have thought 3 silly little axes would turn a grown Tank into a withering, tourette syndrome mess. In brief it went from…”I got first axe…I got second axe…I got third axe” all good; then “I lost an axe, bloody hell those axes, got them” still ok but then “S*&t those axes, wtf these axes, oh f*%k these axes *deep breaths and sighs* THESE F&%king axes” Boss dies to huge cheers and the Tank’s deep breaths.

It was a cracking night and a massive well done to all, thank you all for coming and creating yet more Eternal Dawn history.

Did I put not ONE of you mentioned Malbec’s bikini….

EDers,

The summer is coming to an end and its time we picked up the pace in the Elder Scrolls Online to see if we can start looking at Trials.

But whoa there……not so fast we need to be sensible about it.

Firstly, we need to know if you are interested, so I have set up a thread for this in the ESO section of the forums here. Please use this to let us know or leave a comment on this News thread.

Secondly, we need to gear up and help others gear up as well, we will be no good without it.

So we need to start arranging a lot more dungeon runs once we know who is interested. This should start happening come September but I suggest this happens more organically in game rather than setting up days in advanced.

We need ‘Doers’ for this, to take charge and just arrange it, due to ED slacky nature 😉 It will not always happen but we must start the momentum soon, there is some nice challenges and new content ahead.

Once we have enough geared up people we can start dipping our toes into the Trial waters. For this we will need a raiding trinity of some sort so please consider what class/role you want to play. I will also be looking out for ‘leaders’ that want that extra challenge of organising what can only be described as ‘random chaos’. If this interests you then contact Malbec in game or Discord.

Thanks

Mal

After a summer of slacking off, the Guild decided to relaunch the autumn ops season with a bang and visit their favourite nemesis: the Underlurker!  After several years of intermittent attempts, now was the time to dig deep, make sacrifices and conquer that Temple of Sacrifice.

On a cool Tuesday evening they met up on Yavin, seven bold adventurers, all but one (who had never been there before and so didn’t know the dangers) quaking in their skimpy slippers but determined and brave. Seven you ask, for an eight person op, but nothing daunted, they entered.

The first boss fell quickly to their determined assaults, then all the trash, which can still pack a punch, and then the Walkers, which fell to their first onslaught and so on to that Underlurker, the bane of many guilds and even more players, requiring faultless completion of mechanics, a dps race and killing oh so many adds. Time after time our dauntless group attacked him, defeating adds, perfecting the mechanics and bringing the Underlurker so, so low, but  just lacking that extra bit of damage  (never forget this dauntless band were under-strength) until they finally retreated, to return again later with a full group.

The following night they met again on Yavin, outside that fabled Temple, still seven. Fearlessly, Bullet and his merry band assaulted a far more fearsome foe, the sensibilities of Yarissa to make her join them in their quest.  They also found Kharla, long unseen in Republic space, to join them in this quest and with a full eight, they again braved that Underlurker.

The first assault failed – there was some confusion but again they attacked, pressing the Underlurker harder and harder, and then …. he fell!  Although there were deaths afterwards of brave heroes while the remaining adds were destroyed.

But no time for triumphs, on and on pushed our band of heroes, defeating the Commanders and finally on to the great Revan. Ably advised by Kharla they defeated HK47, moved on through Revan and finally destroyed the great Orb.

At last, the Temple of Sacrifice had been conquered by Eternal Dawn.

ED turned 2 years old yesterday and we were celebrating a bit!

The Boss – under the ever persisting influence of his wine – started with a small speech. For those of you who missed it, here it is:

After we were done cheering and toasting we went outside because there were still games to play and prizes to win!

We started off with a dice tournament. We split into 3 teams. Originally they were supposed to be decided by /roll 3 but since the Rogue that organized the event (Rogues’ naturally low intelligence stat showed…) is really bad with numbers and got confused with so many of them in the chat (everyone rolled at the same time after all) it didn’t exactly work out as planned but the teams were equal in numbers at least.

Each round there was a slightly different rule set and each team, when it was their turn, had to make it through the round with as few members out as possible to have better chances at making it far in the tournament. There was “if you roll the same number as the organizer rolled, you’re out”, “if you roll anything higher than 8, you’re out”, “if you roll an even number you’re out” and more. Everyone was really lucky the first two rounds with everyone passing! Then in the third round about half the participants rolled an even number and were out! We continued to battle on until a winner was finally decided! Congrats to the last three who won the prizes for their respective places! Surprisingly enough, all three of them were Rogues. Can’t trust dem Rogues… must have been some loaded dice or something…

After this luck-based game, our knowledge was tested in 10 rounds of Trivia, each round awarding a small prize! Some questions as obvious as “what’s the max level?” while others took a bit of more in-depth knowledge like “Who’s the leader/commander of the Defiants?”. The very first question though was ruined by a typo by the Rogue organizer. Instead of asking “What’s the dragon of gold and greed called?” she asked “What’s the dragon of gold and green called?” leading multiple people to answer “Greenscale” instead of “Laethys”… After there was another (not so bad) typo in the next question as well, the Boss threatened to have her pay 100 plat per typo. After that it went pretty typo free. 😀

After the trivia was done we wanted to go eat some well-deserved cake but some evil person (those Rogues…) stole and hid it. Everyone spread out to find it then, especially since a bounty of 100 plat was offered to whoever found it! But a sneaky smart person (a Rogue. Of course.) had a better idea that (to his own surprise) even worked, and instead of going to the cake he brought the cake to him! (via the dimension item list) 😀

After a good yummy piece of cake we went off to take pictures. Because making lines and forming circles is too easy (or not) we tried something harder: Forming an “ED”. It was such a mess lol Partly because we didn’t have that many people left (we tried to fill up with companions but controlling the movement of those little buggers is harder than it seems…) so we gave up after a while. 😀 We went over to the little bridge and took some good ones there instead! And that concluded our little party.

Happy birthday, ED! Thanks everyone, old and new members, for making it an awesome place to be. Let’s celebrate a lot more birthdays in the future. <3

Eternal Dawn members had their chance to discuss what they want to do in Rift to make the playing experience more enjoyable not just for any individual but all members.

All those online piled into the Guild Dimension and sat round the fire to start the debate.

It was made clear form the very start that Eternal Dawn is not just a 1 game guild it is a multi-game community, friendships have formed across several games and we intend to be here for a very long time.

This meeting was for the Rift members in Eternal Dawn and how we can improve the fun [although it appears we are doing the right thing in any case]

The topics discussed were;

Recruitment, Introducing New Members, What Do Members Want To Do and Raiding.

There was some great feedback, the meeting was screenshot and is now on our forum for all Rift members to read however the headlines of the discussion went as follows;

Recruitment – This continues, and is currently very successful however, we must make our play style transparent we don’t just raid.

New members – We continue to welcome them into Eternal Dawn kindly. We are introducing a 1 on 1 mentor to help them feel a big part of Eternal Dawn, even on day 1.

What do you want to do – this almost turned into the majority of the guild wanting to carry on raiding before we got to raiding topic :P but it was clear that we will continue doing what we do which is; Crifts, NMR’s, low level dungeons, NTE’s and pretty much what Rift throws at us.

Raiding – The hunger continues [see other News articles and our main Rift page]. Raiding has been a great success and more and more are joining us so we have great confidence we will continue with Hammerknell but our main focus right now is gearing members in Tier 1.

We hope the above looks attractive to anyone browsing our site and demonstrates that we want our members to be a very important part of Eternal Dawn’s growth long term.

Another milestone for ED’s Rift team! Our very first run in with the guard dog at the doors of the T2 raid Hammerknell, Murdantix. Stubborn little puppy, took a while to tame it. But we made it!

Everyone was hyped for this for days already and when the day finally came our raid leaders had the toughest job of them all: Picking who may tag along on this very first run into HK as we actually had too many people for it! Good for us that HK has plenty of bosses for everyone to get a “first” with. <3

Once the team was assembled inside (except for guild leader Malbec/Jacqques who seemed to be raiding an entirely different boss: his microphone settings) there were the usual trash mobs we had to beat. That went unusually uneventful, foreboding the wipes to come but we were too hyped to notice it.

At the sight of the big bad boss people were even more excited to kill it! Except this one Cleric healer, that was recently promoted to Elder (an officer position in ED’s Rift guild) that was experiencing some other kind of excitement… Cleric tank: “Let’s get this beast down. This big, fishy-looking, muscle-y fella” – “I wanna ride it.” –  “…Sure you do.” – “…Do you even have standards…?” “…This is our new Elder?!” He went totally nuts, probably resulting from the accumulated hype over the last few days and his “excitement” when he saw the actual boss, starting to giggle uncontrollably. And for a good 2 minutes! It may have been longer but he went quiet after some time (probably muted his mic or stopped pushing the push-to-talk button) so we cannot be certain how long this episode of his lasted. Yes, we will get him help asap.

Meanwhile, we sorted out roles and got ready to engage the boss. The first few pulls were brutal as people were getting used to the mechanics. But we got better every pull, adjusting our raid setup slightly, too. Guild leader Malbec/Jacqques continued to fight the big bad microphone settings boss and at one point we thought he beat it… “I think something came out of Mal!” – “Probably just wine.” …but we were mistaken.

We had a few more attempts at Murdantix where the boy himself didn’t cause as many problems as the dog poop in form of huge green AoEs he tried leaving on us. We tried dodging them as best as we could but boy, were they smelly. So smelly, it actually hurt.

The people we had at range had to deal with another quite unfortunate event killing each other in the back just because they wanted to be close to each other! It hasn’t been long since Valentine’s Day and here they are, unable to get close to each other. 🙁 Harsh raid. Apparently, it was so hard on them that some chose to die in each other’s arms instead of being apart for so long, making us lose people in the back quite a often. That, and Murdantix living out a fantasy of having leashed dogs of his own. But he seemed to pull those leashes quite hard, killing the ones that didn’t want to obey his “Heel!” command.

But everyone was still hyped and in good spirits even after wiping so many times. We respawned and went for another pull. The Rogue tank started counting down: “3… 2… gotta get my pots on… and now we… oh” – “Omgomg” And that was that one obligatory ninja pull of every raid. <3

Meanwhile, guild leader Malbec/Jacqques also continued to struggle with his big bad microphone settings boss so he called for a pee break via raid warnings. Of course someone HAD to ask how his pee break went after he came back and that’s when he replied:

girly wee Mal

and that’s when this picture came into existence:

malbec

It’s okay to be special, Mal.

We continued to play with Murdantix and started feeling that he was slowly starting to listen when suddenly a lot of small insects came, probably drawn in by the smelly dog poop Murdantix left everywhere. Those aggressive insects were quite nasty and caused a lot of wipes, including some with Murdantix having less than 5 % hp!

We kept trying and when we actually thought it was the end again because both our tanks, our tank healer, all of the 3 raid healers, the bard and a couple of dps were dead, we actually got him down! 😀 Three pieces of loot and lots of happy shouts on Discord!

Malbec/Jacqques never did beat that big bad microphone boss that night.

Thanks to everyone that was there, special thanks to the people that weren’t there and “took one for the team”, big thanks to the leaders for handling our crazy hyped lot the best they can.

After breezing through 4/5 MS and having Johan for dessert right after on Wednesday, we went for a random Rhen of Fate yesterday. We tried it on hard mode – with great success! 3/4 bosses died on hard mode awarding an extra piece of loot and a Heart of the Frozen each boss! It was a long run but definitely paid off.

The first boss, Ungolok, gave us some trouble but after sorting out the cage order again (and shutting up the drunk dwarf Mage that was confusing people with the wrong order :> ) we finally got it down!

“Okay, let’s kill this trash before the next bosses quickly!” – “Okay, just pull it, we can kill it while some people are afk, it’s just trash after all!” …Well, those mobs did not like being underestimated and wiped the floor with us. But hey, a raid’s not a raid without wiping on trash, right?

On the next fight we had to find a tactic and raid setup that worked for us as it was different from normal mode but once we found it it was going quite well. To everyone’s surprise our dear guild leader and forever-low-dps-Mage Malbec/Jacqques revealed his hidden talents and was top dps on one pull! Grats! That shocked the drunk dwarf Mage so much that he demanded to dps (instead of heal) for the rest of the fight thereafter. :> After a few more tries including a pull where our tank forgot to activate his tank buffs and a ninja-pull by the seemingly still appalled drunk dwarf Mage and we got our well deserved achievements and loot.

The poor guy continued to be in distress throughout the next boss fight as well as he continued to ninja pull (both adds before the boss and the boss itself – he blamed it on his intoxicated mouth, short dwarf legs and armadillo on a rampage over his keyboard). 😀 But we got it down quite fast anyway. Our seemingly-drunk-but-not-actually-drunk Cleric healer confused us a bit by saying we all had a crazy amount of stacks from intercepting the beams that go to the boss but he was just seeing things after all. He blamed it on his addons though.

We switched back to normal mode for the last boss and after some swapping around roles, bugged corals, silly deaths and lots of laughter we got it down as well!

This was one of our longest raid runs but everyone was in good spirits till the end.

Thanks to everyone that was there (and cheerleading on Discord) for making it an amazing night!

After a very quick Mount Sharax 4/5 clear we went off to Tyrants Forge to pay Johan a visit.

Oh dear, what a crazy mess that was;

“lets jump in the water and swim there quickly”, ” yeah lets do that and summon at the other end”, ” we did this the other day weeeeee …….”

then,

“WTF we all died”. “what killed us?”, “I dunno I followed you”, ” WHAT!……”;

“NOOBS”

LOL

then,

“I got here”, “What can you rez me then we can summon”, “yeah yeah get in range”, “I cannot get closer you get in range”, “ah yeah”

BOOM we are at Johan.

[This lot give me stress :D]

Anyways after the best tactics in the world [cough] we pull, some weird stuff happens, we wipe a couple of times, one being 0.25% yeah that’s a number you can wipe at!

THEN…………just a wee while after;

JOHAN DIES!

Well Done All was a great night.

We continue to gear up and gratz on all those that got loots.

Proper ED night

No sooner did we add our new Rift Raid Progress Art we had to update it with a further 2 kills.

We are now 4/4 Rhen of Fate, 4/4 intrepid Gilded Prophecy and now, thanks to some hard work by the team and some buggy moments killed 4/5 in Mount Sharax.

The team has grown tremendously and Raiding has become great fun. We thank everyone for participating.

We have also set a date for Hammerknell and we will first step foot in the place on the 17 February.

Watch this space for more Boss kills 😉
